A research paper that came out of some fieldwork undertaken for a GRM client has now been presented and published at a prestigious national conference.
Russell Hurcombe (Senior Commercial Engineer) and Andrew Brown (Principal Geotechnical Engineer) wrote the paper after discovering 300 previously unrecorded closely spaced bell pits on a greenbelt site in Leicestershire in 2017. The pits covered approximately 10% of the development site, meaning that ground investigation and subsequent land remediation presented some challenges to traditional industry best practice.
Their research paper was professionally peer-reviewed and included in proceedings of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining conference which was held in Newcastle earlier this month. Both Russell and Andy attended the conference and presented their work as part of the conference program. Their paper has subsequently been included in the official proceedings publication.
