The GRM team adventure golf and BBQ afternoon at Branston Golf & Country Club has become an annual event since its inception in 2022 (when it was brought in to celebrate reaching our 10,000 project milestone).
And while the official British Open Golf Championship up in Scotland experienced wet and windy conditions, we were once again blessed with wonderful warm weather! In fact we were grateful for the shade in the woodland golf area!
There was a great turn-out too, with 32 players competing for both individual and team prizes (including lowest scoring player, lowest average team score and highest scoring player). Rivalries were renewed from previous years, with the tension and banter building during the preceding week. Suffice to say that for some this pressure was too much and they crumbled on the day!
After completing the full 18 holes everyone retired back to the clubhouse patio for some well earned drinks, a BBQ and to share excuses of what could have been “if only that putt had dropped..”. Scores were counted and independently verified, with the Directors being awarded their customary penalties that once again scuppered any chance of them claiming any of the prizes.
The winning team consisted of George, Hamza, Geoff and Liam, with the lowest score of the day going to Chris (see pics below). Jordan and Jo also won a prize for their inaugural rounds, albeit for the joint highest score!
The post-golf celebrations and commiserations also provided a fitting opportunity to bid a fond farewell to a couple of staff members who were moving on – Lewis Parnell and Steve Morris (pics below). We wish them both all the best for the future.
Thanks to Branston Golf & Country Club for hosting us, and to the Directors for the afternoon out of the office! We’ll hopefully be back next year for a rematch (I’m off to get some practice in…).
