September often surprises us with an encore of sunshine and warmth, which is great for our field-based teams and this year proved timely for our annual staff charity BBQ.
Expectations were higher than usual given the acquisition of a brand-new BBQ, which replaced ‘old faithful’ that auto-cremated itself last year (along with most of the food too).
The prospect of test-driving the new toy, along with the removal of the requirement for the operator to wear a full fire-resistant suit & helmet, resulted in several new faces pitching their culinary services. The resultant bun fight (see what I’ve done there) to take control was eventually won by the experienced and semi-professional BBQing duo of Russell and Liam.
The performance of both the BBQ and the operators lived up to expectations, with a fine spread of perfectly cooked culinary delights rapidly devoured by the GRM team. Thanks to everyone who supported the event and donated to Testicular Cancer, one of our chosen charities. A further £166.60 was raised on the day, adding to our growing full year total.
